The road
Flat, straight road across the irrigated Khorezm oasis, past cotton fields and the canal villages. No tolls.
Worth stopping
- Exchange and SIM cards are easier in Urgench than in Khiva — tell the driver if you need a stop.
Good to know
- Flights from Tashkent often land late in the evening; we wait at no charge if they are delayed.
- Khiva also has a railway station (since 2018), about 30 minutes’ walk from the old town; station pickups cost the same as the airport.
- Leaving Khiva for Bukhara? It is a full day: 455 km, 6.5–8 hours.
